The world's largest solar thermal power plant

The Punk Solar Power Plant is the largest solar power plant in the world today. It was built in Punk in Bavaria, Germany. It was jointly built by Shell Solar and Bucher Project Research and Development, and obtained financial arrangements from Commerzbank. This solar power plant costs about 40 million euros and has a capacity of 10 megawatts, which can meet the electricity needs of about 3,300 households.

The Ivanpa Solar Power Plant is located near Las Vegas and covers an area of more than 1,400 hectares. It uses a series of concave mirrors arranged in concentric circles to focus sunlight on the central tower, thereby generating high temperatures and generating steam. The solar thermal power plant uses three central towers, each with its own concave mirror. The first batch of equipment in the foreground will be completed in February this year, and workers will begin to install concave mirrors in the upper left corner of the picture and on the right side of the site.

A temporary factory was built on site to assemble concave mirrors to form heliostats to track the movement of the sun so that light can be focused on the same point throughout the day. In the factory, the rearview mirror is automatically positioned by a robot and transported along the track. Workers use screws to fix it on the metal frame, and then the motor rotates the rearview mirror toward the sun.
